Thanks for the article. Speaking of the HardGainer school of thought, I would really appreciate a more detailed review of what you consider flawed in the ideas of McRobert and like-minded coaches. I personally find the HIT method very effective for strength and muscle building. However, the two problems with this approach that I can think of are the risk of injury associated with the high level of intensity (this can be negated by paying extra attention to technique and being patient with the rate of progression) and the overwhelming fatigue, which leaves little energy for out-of-gym physical activity.

That's a good idea. I'll work on that. The short and sweet: overall I agree with you. It's mostly good. I'm a fan of the basics, 2-3 sets per exercise (is usually do 2), high effort and recovery. I disagree with intentionally minimalist programming and super low frequency (1-2 days per week, 1 set instead of 2, minimal isolation and this idea that arms can grow well from compounds alone). I like 3-4 days per week, 2 way split or full body though. I align more with the original brawn book I guess. But I'll discuss it further. Overall though, it's good
